Hotel Sentry is a consumer convenience app that reuses a spare Apple device as a room sensor. It is not a monitored alarm system, a security service, or a substitute for a lock, a safe, or the police. There is no monitoring centre, no guaranteed response, and no service-level promise of any kind.
Detection depends on your hardware, the room, the network, and iOS itself. Alerts may be delayed, duplicated, or missed entirely — for example if the phone is unplugged, the app is closed by the system, Wi-Fi fails, or the room's air pressure behaves unusually. Do not rely on Hotel Sentry to protect anything you cannot afford to lose.
Hotel Sentry is free to download and needs no account. The sentry role is free for its first three armed sessions; after that, a single one-time purchase — Hotel Sentry Pro — unlocks unlimited arming. It is not a subscription and never renews. The companion role, which watches a room someone else is guarding, is free indefinitely.
The purchase is sold by Apple through the App Store, is covered by Family Sharing, and can be restored on your other devices from the unlock screen. Payment, receipts and any refund requests are handled by Apple, not by the developer. The app uses your own iCloud storage. Apple's terms for iCloud and the App Store apply alongside these.
Hotel Sentry is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any loss, theft, damage, injury, or other harm arising from use of, or reliance on, the app — including missed, late, or false alerts.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits rights that cannot be limited by law.
These terms may be updated; the current version always appears at this address with the date above. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
